EDWARD “CHIP” PROKOP, PE (OR, AZ), BCEE, CIEC

Mr. Prokop is the managing principal of Indoor Air Science's California operations. He has over 25 years experience as an environmental professional within the chemical, insurance, and environmental consulting industries. He is experienced in facilitating negotiations with state and federal agencies and providing litigation support for both plaintiffs and insurers.  Mr. Prokop is registered as a professional engineer with a specialty in environmental engineering in Arizona and Oregon, and is credentialed as a Board Certified Environmental Engineer by the American Academy of Environmental Engineers with a specialty in Hazardous Waste.  Mr. Prokop has served as an expert witness in lawsuits concerning both mold and soil and groundwater contamination.

Mr. Prokop has performed over 1,000 indoor air quality inspections on a variety of concerns including fungal contamination fungi, asbestos, bacteria and volatile organic compounds. He is currently working with several builders resolving water intrusion problems ranging from excessive moisture in concrete slabs to solar driven vapor intrusion through exterior cladding. He has provided consulting and testing services regarding a bat infestation and Histoplasma capsulatum exposure for the renovation of a large theater for the City of Pittsburg, CA.  He provided oversight of the cleanup of flood damages for the cities of Fairfax, San Anselmo and Ross after the 2005/2006 floods. Mr. Prokop testified as an expert witness in an indoor air quality lawsuit for the plaintiff in which the jury decided an award of $1,400,000 in Rodgers vs. Molln. 

Mr. Prokop provides litigation support for insurance companies and law firms on environmental matters related to petroleum and chlorinated solvent impacts to the soil and groundwater. Provides damage evaluations and evaluates site conditions and damages in order to provide 3rd party reviews of investigation and remedial costs. Works directly with counsel on defense-related issues regarding environmental claims. Assists insurance company claims professionals and counsel with damage allocation scenarios.  Mr. Prokop provided expert testimony in defense of Modesto Steam Laundry in City of Modesto vs. Dow Chemical and provided the lead for site investigation. No fines were levied against Modesto Steam in which compensatory damages were set at approximately $13 million for the remaining defendants and producers.
